Two Jars
Vintage Dilbert – July 3, 2002
The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit.
“These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and can hold the same amount. But they are different,” he explained.
Then he upset one of the jars and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other jar, and vinegar spilled out.
“When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were upset, they looked alike. The difference was within, and could not be seen. When they were upset, their contents were revealed.”

Five cups of delicious, fresh hot coffee, my friend! However …..
You’re a day late with this one. I spent about two hours on the phone yesterday being transferred from department to department, person to person, trying to get a $14.95 recurring charge reversed from Intuit Quickbooks. I spoke with people in India, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the United States. Still no resolution. Vinegar spilled out all over the place. The “old” me was definitely revealed.

When you sqeeze an orange . . . . that’s how I’ve used it. Now I have a new twist. Yesterday I used the story of the Seminary Donuts in a tutoring class.We used several sentence structures, look for participles, etc but the exercise was pleasant because the story content was lively. So, the story was put to a different use. I also read the story to my grandsons at lunch one day when they were over. So, see, you are really doing a good thing! Thank you.

That’s a brilliant way of putting it! It’s kinda like what they say about drinking. Once you’ve had a few drinks, the truth comes out. The same thing applies to when you’re angry, sad, stressed, etc.

A great illustration Kenny and one I hope to remember…reminds me again it’s up to the owner of the vessel to decide what goes into it. Even then, only the grace of God can fill these vessels with sweet love rather than anger or bitterness. Thanks Kenny!
