Meaning of Christmas

Morning Story and Dilbert

“Isn’t there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about, pleaded Charlie Brown.

“Sure, Charlie Brown”, said Linus. “I can tell you what Christmas is all about”.

With everyone watching him, Linus takes center stage and says,”Lights please.”

“And there were in the same country, shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and the glory of the Lord shone ‘round about them and they were sore afraid.”

And the angel said unto them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day, in the City of David, a Savior, ‘tis Christ the Lord.”

“And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly, there was with the angel, a multitude of heavenly hosts praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

Then Linus, leaving center stage to make his way back to Charlie Brown side, says, “That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”

  1. I used to love reading Charlie Brown comics when I was a young boy; this story brought back lovely memories. I’m so tired of the commercialisation of Christmas, which only seeks to detract from the sacred and glorious event of Christ’s birth. Christmas should be a time of peace, solemnity and joy that God so loved mankind that Christ our beloved Saviour took human flesh and dwelt among us, as a sign of his infinite love to redeem mankind. It should be a time when we reflect on the beautiful teachings of Christ the source of all that is pure and good and manifest our love for Him through our love for our neighbour. I love the fact that the word for Christmas in the original Greek is literally “Christ’s birth”, and Easter is actually called “Resurrection”. Thanks for your inspirational stories Kenny. God bless you in every way.

I have great memories of watching Charlie Brown Christmas on T.V. growing up as a kid. There was a time where if you missed it on T.V. , you missed it for the whole year. No VHS, DVD’s or YouTube clips. Not the world we live in now.

  3. I just love this entry. Can I have permission to put this on my blog as well? I am new to all of this. Can this be done? Whatever help you can give me is most appreciated. God Bless and Shalom.
